Gamma Chapter's Woman of Distinction has been an Honorary Member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 1982 - 40 years! It is rare that an Honorary Member of any chapter is as active as this person has been. A former Meridian Public School District School Board Member, this lady has been supportive in many ways including serving on many committees as well as volunteering for various tasks within the chapter. Over the past few years, Lynne has helped keep Gamma Chapter informed on different legislative issues pertaining to children and to education.
A
39-year honorary member, Dr. Margaret Morrison is very active in Delta Kappa Gamma.
Beginning in 1970, she worked for the Mississippi Health Department, serving and educating people in her 9-county district. Her love for and dedication to DKG is evidenced by her involvement at the chapter and district levels.
This year, Gamma Chapter's Woman of Distinction is one among us who is currently in her 37th year in education. She has served the profession as both a classroom teacher and capable administrator.
In Delta Kappa Gamma, she has served as Gamma Chapter President and is currently serving a 2nd biennium as Treasurer. She attends chapter meetings faithfully, she has attended several district and Zeta State meetings, and she has also attended 1 International meeting.
Of the Society she says, "It's an honor to be a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. The fellowship with outstanding educators has enabled me to grow as a leader and improve my practice in serving students and teachers."
Because of her outstanding contributions to Gamma Chapter, the Personal Growth and Services Committee recognizes Cheryl Thomas as this biennium's Woman of Distinction.
